The July 2026 Virtual General Meeting marked an important transition in FGSCAA’s governance history.
Following the constitutional reforms, election completion and administrative handover undertaken between April and June 2026, the July meeting became the first General Meeting formally anchored by the newly elected President and Executive Committee.
The meeting focused on consolidating the leadership transition, reviewing the evolving relationship between the Board of Trustees and the Association’s operational structures, planning the forthcoming inauguration and handover ceremony, and discussing membership participation, welfare and institutional growth.

BOT / BoD update
Governance and Board Updates
The President reported progress in the continuing governance transition.
Members of the Board of Trustees who were being regularised within the Association’s formal structure had agreed to provide the documentation required in relation to CAC registration.
The meeting also discussed the wider Board structure, including the participation of committee chairpersons, Executive Committee members and Trustees in the Association’s broader deliberative framework.
Inauguration & handover
Planning the Inauguration and Handover Ceremony
A major item of discussion was the planned inauguration and handover ceremony for the newly elected Executive Committee.
The President proposed that the event should also formally recognise and appreciate the Board of Trustees for its service during the transition period, transforming the planned programme into a broader three-part celebration:
- Part 1Swearing-in and handover
- Part 2Formal appreciation of the Board of Trustees
- Part 3Association celebration and fellowship
At the July meeting, Villa Park Hotel had been identified as the proposed venue.
The meeting also discussed publicity, member participation, event funding and the possibility of coordinated attire.
Planning Note
These were planning-stage arrangements. The 10th Anniversary and formal swearing-in were ultimately held on 26 September 2026.

Membership, Inclusion and Welfare
Members discussed how FGSCAA could strengthen participation while remaining mindful of classmates who may face genuine financial difficulty.
The Discussion Considered
- How to encourage more members of the Class of 1998 to join the Association
- How to approach members who may not presently have the financial capacity to meet dues obligations
- How to support classmates outside the registered membership structure who may require assistance
- The importance of member commitment and participation
- The need for welfare outreach to members facing genuine hardship
The meeting reflected differing perspectives on membership obligations, but there was broad agreement on the importance of maintaining connection with classmates and strengthening the Association’s support mechanisms.
This was a discussion item; no formal membership policy was adopted at the meeting.
Partnerships for member support
Exploring External Partnerships
Members also discussed the possibility of partnering with larger organisations to support welfare and humanitarian initiatives.
The President indicated that the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees would work together to develop possible modalities for such partnerships.
Exploratory discussion — no partnership programme had been established at the time of the meeting.
