1. Introduction

Welcome to the official website of the Festac Grammar School Class of 1998 Alumni Association (“FGSCAA”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the FGSCAA website, member portal and related online services.

By accessing or using this website, you agree to use it lawfully and in accordance with these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use restricted or interactive features of the website.

2. About FGSCAA

FGSCAA is the alumni association of the Festac Grammar School Class of 1998.

The website is intended to support the Association’s institutional, membership, educational, governance, programme, event, communication and public-engagement activities.

Information published on the website may include:

  • Association history;
  • governance information;
  • projects and programmes;
  • scholarship and educational initiatives;
  • General Meeting records;
  • Homecoming activities;
  • news and publications;
  • membership information;
  • merchandise information;
  • dues-payment information;
  • donation and support opportunities;
  • photographs and institutional archives.

3. Website Use

You may use the public areas of the website for lawful personal, informational, educational and Association-related purposes.

You must not use the website:

  • for unlawful or fraudulent purposes;
  • to interfere with the security or operation of the website;
  • to attempt unauthorised access to restricted areas;
  • to impersonate another person;
  • to submit false or misleading information;
  • to upload malicious code or content;
  • to interfere with another user’s access;
  • to misuse member information or Association records;
  • to scrape, copy or systematically extract protected member information.

FGSCAA may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the Association, its members or its systems.

4. Member Portal

Certain website features are available only to authorised FGSCAA members.

Members are responsible for:

  • maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials;
  • using their accounts only for authorised purposes;
  • providing reasonably accurate profile information;
  • notifying the Secretariat if they believe their account has been compromised.

Members must not share protected member-only information publicly without appropriate authority.

FGSCAA may suspend or restrict portal access where necessary for security, administration, membership status or compliance with Association rules.

5. Administrator Access

Administrative areas of the website are restricted to authorised persons.

Administrator privileges must only be used for legitimate Association purposes.

Administrators must not:

  • access member information without an appropriate purpose;
  • disclose protected records without authority;
  • alter institutional records improperly;
  • misuse administrative privileges.

Administrative activities may be recorded through system audit logs.

6. Membership Information

Information on the website concerning membership requirements, privileges, responsibilities, dues or Association processes is intended to reflect current FGSCAA arrangements.

Where there is any conflict between website summaries and an approved Constitution, formal resolution, policy or official Association record, the applicable approved institutional document takes precedence.

7. Membership and Welfare Dues

FGSCAA may provide online facilities for members to select and report payment of approved dues.

Current dues amounts displayed on the website may include:

  • Annual Membership Dues;
  • Annual Welfare Dues.

Payments are presently made through approved Association bank-transfer arrangements.

Submission of a payment-confirmation form does not itself constitute confirmation that payment has been received.

A dues payment becomes formally confirmed only after the Secretariat or authorised administrator verifies the transfer against the Association’s financial records.

An official receipt may then be issued through the Association’s administrative system.

FGSCAA will not ask members to pay official Association dues into an individual’s personal bank account.

8. Donations and Support

FGSCAA may invite voluntary financial or non-financial support for approved programmes and institutional priorities.

Support may include:

  • financial donations;
  • corporate sponsorship;
  • in-kind donations;
  • equipment and materials;
  • professional expertise;
  • designated giving.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in an approved programme arrangement, publication of a project or programme on the website does not constitute a guarantee that all contributions will be applied in exactly the same manner if circumstances materially change.

Where a contribution is designated for an approved purpose, FGSCAA will seek to apply it accordingly, subject to programme requirements, governance procedures and applicable obligations.

The website does not represent that contributions are tax-deductible unless FGSCAA specifically confirms such treatment.

9. Merchandise

The FGSCAA Merchandise section presents approved Association merchandise and commemorative items.

Unless a separate online commerce system is introduced:

  • merchandise displayed on the website is not offered through automated checkout;
  • prices may not be publicly displayed;
  • availability may change;
  • enquiries and orders are handled through the Secretariat.

Images are intended to represent the approved merchandise design but minor production specifications may vary where appropriate.

10. Events and Programmes

FGSCAA publishes information about General Meetings, Homecoming activities, outreach programmes and other Association events.

Future event information may change because of:

  • venue changes;
  • scheduling considerations;
  • unforeseen circumstances;
  • programme adjustments;
  • operational requirements.

Where a page describes a planned or future event, publication does not guarantee that every proposed detail will occur exactly as described.

Historical event pages are intended to preserve Association records based on available verified information.

11. Website Content and Accuracy

FGSCAA seeks to publish accurate and responsible information.

However:

  • website information may occasionally contain errors;
  • historical records may require later clarification;
  • event information may change;
  • programme details may be updated;
  • administrative information may become outdated.

Where an error is identified, FGSCAA may correct or update the relevant content.

Nothing on the website should override a formally adopted Association document where the two conflict.

12. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, content created for FGSCAA and published on this website may include materials owned, licensed or used by the Association.

This may include:

  • FGSCAA logos and branding;
  • written content;
  • publications;
  • programme materials;
  • photographs;
  • graphics;
  • event materials;
  • website design elements.

You may view and share public website links for legitimate purposes.

You must not reproduce, commercially exploit, materially alter or falsely represent FGSCAA materials as your own without appropriate permission.

Historical school materials, third-party photographs, press articles and other third-party content remain subject to any rights held by their respective owners.

13. Photographs and Institutional Archives

FGSCAA may publish photographs from:

  • General Meetings;
  • Homecoming events;
  • school programmes;
  • scholarships;
  • outreach activities;
  • Association celebrations;
  • other documented activities.

These materials help preserve the institutional history of the Association.

Persons with legitimate concerns regarding particular published images may contact the Secretariat for review.

The existence of a photograph on the website does not grant third parties unrestricted rights to reuse it commercially.

14. User Submissions

Where users submit information through forms, they should provide information that is accurate to the best of their knowledge.

Users must not knowingly submit:

  • false information;
  • fraudulent payment confirmations;
  • malicious content;
  • unlawful materials;
  • information belonging to another person without appropriate authority.

FGSCAA may disregard or investigate submissions reasonably suspected to be fraudulent or abusive.

The website may contain links to third-party websites, publications or services.

External links are provided for convenience or reference.

FGSCAA does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for:

  • their content;
  • availability;
  • security;
  • privacy practices;
  • transactions conducted through them.

Users should review applicable third-party terms and policies.

16. Website Availability

FGSCAA seeks to maintain reasonable website availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted access.

The website or particular services may occasionally be unavailable due to:

  • maintenance;
  • technical problems;
  • service-provider issues;
  • security measures;
  • upgrades;
  • circumstances beyond the Association’s reasonable control.

FGSCAA may modify, suspend or retire website functionality where reasonably necessary.

17. Security

Users must not attempt to:

  • bypass authentication controls;
  • access another member’s account;
  • interfere with security protections;
  • probe the website for vulnerabilities without authority;
  • access private documents unlawfully.

Suspected security issues should be reported to the Secretariat rather than exploited.

18. Privacy

Use of personal information through the website is governed by the FGSCAA Privacy Policy.

Privacy Policy

These Terms should be read together with that Privacy Policy.

19. No Professional Advice

Information published by FGSCAA is primarily institutional and informational.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, website content should not be regarded as:

  • legal advice;
  • financial advice;
  • medical advice;
  • tax advice;
  • professional investment advice.

Where professional advice is required, users should consult an appropriately qualified professional.

20. Limitation of Website Responsibility

FGSCAA will take reasonable care in operating its website and online services.

However, to the extent permitted by applicable law, the Association does not guarantee that:

  • all content will always be error-free;
  • the website will always be uninterrupted;
  • every external link will remain available;
  • every planned programme or event will proceed without modification.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

21. Suspension or Restriction of Access

FGSCAA may suspend or restrict a user’s access to restricted website services where reasonably necessary because of:

  • security concerns;
  • unauthorised activity;
  • misuse of Association systems;
  • membership-status issues;
  • breach of these Terms;
  • breach of applicable Association policies.

Any such action should be exercised consistently with applicable Association governance and administrative procedures.

22. Changes to These Terms

FGSCAA may update these Terms as its website, programmes, systems or institutional arrangements develop.

The current version will be published on this page together with the date it was last updated.

Material changes may be communicated through appropriate Association channels where necessary.

23. Governing Framework

These Terms are intended to operate within the laws applicable in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the governing documents and policies of FGSCAA.

Where website content conflicts with a validly adopted FGSCAA Constitution, resolution or applicable law, the higher governing authority should prevail.
