Long before the Festac Grammar School Class of 1998 Alumni Association was formally established, its story had already begun in the classrooms, corridors, school grounds and friendships shared by members of the Class of 1998.
These photographs preserve moments from those school years — a period when classmates learned together, formed friendships, participated in school life and created memories that would remain long after graduation.
Life at Festac Grammar School
The photographs provide a glimpse into everyday student life at Festac Grammar School — classmates in school uniform, informal group photographs, moments around the school environment and the friendships that developed during those formative years.
They also preserve the physical setting of the school as members of the Class of 1998 knew it during their student years.
Friendships That Endured
Many of the relationships that began during these school years continued beyond graduation.
Although members followed different paths after leaving Festac Grammar School, the shared identity of belonging to the Class of 1998 remained an important connection.
Years later, that bond would help make possible the reconnection of classmates and the eventual formation of a structured Alumni Association.
From Classmates to Alumni
The Class of 1998 formally began reconnecting in February 2016 through its WhatsApp community.
The inaugural meeting held on 20 March 2016 at Frank Kids Park, Festac Town, marked the beginning of the Association’s formal institutional journey.
These school-day photographs therefore belong to an earlier chapter of the same story — documenting the classmates before they became the members, leaders, volunteers and supporters of FGSCAA.
Preserving Our Shared Memory
FGSCAA continues to preserve photographs, documents and records that help tell the story of the Class of 1998.
Some of these photographs have survived for decades in personal collections and family albums. Their age, fading, marks and imperfections are part of their history.
The Association is preserving them as part of its institutional archive so that future generations can understand not only what FGSCAA became, but where its story began.
